The conveyor that takes bulk material straight up — a series of buckets attached to a belt or chain that scoop material at the boot, lift it vertically inside a dust-tight enclosed casing, and discharge it at the head. Capacity from 5 to 700 tons per hour, lifting at 90 degrees or less. Available in centrifugal discharge for free-flowing materials like grains and sugar, and continuous discharge for fragile or abrasive products like flour, cement, and lime. Built in mild steel or stainless steel SS 304/316 for food and pharma.
Six things that set a SANAM-built bucket elevator apart from a generic imported solution — every one of them a decision we make at the engineering desk before fabrication begins.
The catalog defines it — bucket elevators lift bulk materials at 90 degrees or less. Vertical configuration gives maximum lift in minimum floor space, the right tool when sloped or screw conveyors won't give the height. Lift heights up to 30 meters in standard configurations.
The catalog range — 5 to 700 tons per hour. Small operations get 5-10 t/h feeding a single silo; food and feed mills get 30-100 t/h on multiple shifts; large grain and cement plants get 200-700 t/h feeding storage towers.
Belt drive or chain drive — both standard SANAM scope. Belt runs faster (up to 3.5 m/s), gentle handling, quieter, standard for free-flowing granular like grain and sugar. Chain handles higher load per bucket, hot materials, sticky or abrasive products.
Buckets travel inside a fully enclosed casing from boot to head — bulk material stays contained throughout the lift. No dust escaping, no contamination from outside, no spillage. Critical for fine powders, hazardous chemicals, and hygiene-sensitive food products.
Mild steel for industrial bulk: cement, fly ash, sand, recycled aggregates, raw feed intake. SS 304 for food-grade: sugar, flour, salt, finished feed, pharma bulk. SS 316 for aggressive chemistries and corrosive fertilizers.
Every unit is sized to the specific product — density, particle size, abrasion, moisture, temperature. Bucket profile, spacing, belt or chain choice, head pulley diameter, motor power, boot design, and casing material all engineered to your duty point.
The discharge method changes with the material. Centrifugal gives high throughput for free-flowing products; continuous gives gentle handling for fragile, sticky, or abrasive ones. Both configurations come on belt or chain drive — SANAM specifies the right combination based on your product.
Buckets travel at high speed (1.5 to 3.5 m/s) on belt or chain. As each bucket passes over the head pulley, centrifugal force throws the material out into the discharge chute. Best for free-flowing granular materials — grains (wheat, corn, rice, barley), sugar, salt, plastic pellets, dry granular fertilizers — where the high speed gives high throughput and gentle handling isn't critical. Standard for grain silos, feed mills, and FMCG operations. Higher throughput per unit footprint than continuous discharge.
Request Technical Data Sheet →Buckets are closely spaced and travel at low speed. As each bucket inverts at the head, gravity discharges its material onto the back of the preceding bucket, which acts as a chute. Best for fragile materials that would shatter under centrifugal throw (cocoa beans, edible seeds, fragile food granulate), aerated materials that need controlled discharge (flour, fly ash, fine powders), and abrasive materials that wear out high-speed equipment (cement, lime, clinker, mineral powders). Lower per-unit capacity than centrifugal but essential where material integrity or equipment life matter more than peak throughput.
Request Technical Data Sheet →Six industries where vertical bulk lifting is a daily requirement — anywhere material has to go from one floor to another at high capacity, in a dust-tight casing, without sacrificing throughput to the constraints of a sloped conveyor.
Grain silos feeding from intake hoppers, transferring between silos, and lifting into mills and packaging on upper levels. Centrifugal discharge for grains at high throughput; SS 304 for finished food-grade.
Food plants moving sugar, flour, salt, spices, and powders from production floors up to mixers, packagers, or hoppers. SS 304 for food contact; continuous discharge for fragile flour, centrifugal for granular sugar.
Feed mills using bucket elevators throughout: intake, inter-silo transfer, lifting to mixers and pellet mills, and lifting finished feed to packaging. Mild steel for raw intake; SS 304 for finished feed.
Detergent plants lifting powdered base, soap noodles, surfactants, and granulated detergent up to mixers and packagers. Sealed casing contains alkaline dust; centrifugal for granular, continuous for powders.
Fertilizer and chemical plants lifting urea, NPK, ammonium nitrate, phosphates, and chemical intermediates. SS 316 for corrosive chemistries; continuous discharge for fragile granulate; ATEX available.
Distribution centers and bagging plants lifting product from receiving silos to packaging machines or bulk loading. Vertical lift saves floor space versus long inclined conveyors. Heavy-duty for continuous duty.
Anyone can sell you a conveyor. The question is who picks up the phone six months later when a chain segment fails on a Sunday night.
The conveyor is designed, fabricated, and assembled in our 10th of Ramadan facility — by the same team that installs and supports it. No middleman, no resold equipment, no relabeled imports.
We design around your factory floor, your existing fillers and packers, and your container specs. We don't sell standard parts hoping they fit — we design for your line.
Spares are typically available within 48 hours from our Egyptian inventory — no import waits, no customs delays, no production downtime while you wait for a chain segment from Europe.
We don't just supply a conveyor. We connect it to your existing line — matching speed, height, and transfer geometry to your fillers, cappers, labelers, and packers. The line becomes one system, not a stack of disconnected machines.
The questions our engineering team hears most often when a factory owner is sizing up a new conveyor for an existing or new line.
A SANAM engineer can scope your line, walk you through the choices, and give a budgetary figure on the same call.
