The SANAM Medjool Dates Sorting & Packing Line takes harvested dates through five designed stages — receiving and initial sorting, washing, polishing and drying combined, final sorting and inspection, precision grading on three adjustable lanes, and premium packing. Every stage is designed around how delicate Medjool fruit actually behaves: gentle conveying, soft polishing brushes, water-resistant lighting, wet-belt hygiene throughout.

Is the line really designed for Medjool, or does it handle other date varieties?

It is specifically designed for Medjool dates — the variety that drives premium-export economics across Egypt and the wider MENA region. The line also handles fresh and semi-dry dates of similar size and texture: Barhi, Zaghloul, Saidy, and most other premium-export varieties. Brush settings, conveyor speed, drying intensity, and grader lane widths are all tunable to the variety, ripeness window, and skin condition of each batch. We commission the line around the variety mix you actually run, not a generic template.

How does the line protect Medjool dates from being damaged?

Medjool dates are delicate and high-value — handling them harshly destroys margin. Every stage is designed for gentle treatment. The polishing brushes are soft and gentle, chosen specifically for date skin. The water sprays are calibrated nozzles, not high-pressure jets. Conveyor speeds, drop heights, and lane transitions are all set for soft-fruit handling. The Lite Belt Conveyor with wet-belt design keeps fruit hygienic without bouncing. Customers consistently report less skin separation and softness loss compared to harsher imported lines.

Can the line be used as a pre-sorting stage before optical sorting?

Yes — that is one of its primary applications. The line cleans, polishes, dries, sorts, and grades dates to a level where optical sorting downstream becomes faster, more accurate, and more economical to operate. Many customers run this line as the front-end of a larger packing operation that ends in 360° optical sorters or computerized weight grading. We can also configure it as a complete standalone packing line for operations that don't yet need optical sorting.

How are the three grading lanes adjusted, and what sizes are typical?

Each lane width can be adjusted independently during commissioning to match the size buckets your buyers contract for. Common Medjool grades follow international export specs: Jumbo (24g+), Large (18-23g), Standard (12-17g) — but the cut-points are not fixed. If your buyer in the Gulf wants a different bucket structure, or if you want to grade by skin separation percentage rather than weight, the lanes are reconfigurable. Water-resistant lighting and wet-belt hygiene are designed into the conveyor regardless of how you set the cut-points.

Does the line meet hygiene standards for export to Europe and the Gulf?

All construction is SS 304 food-grade stainless steel with FDA and EU food-contact compliance. The line is designed around HACCP and GMP principles — sanitary design, full wash-down between batches, integrated CIP, water-resistant lighting throughout. The documentation set we provide supports your buyer's audit team for ISO 22000, BRCGS, and similar export certifications that the GCC, EU, and premium Asian markets require.
